We have been very impressed with the submissions for Stage 1 of the Ericsson Application Awards! It’s fantastic to see so many innovative ideas focused on Technology for Good. It has been a difficult task for the jury to identify the winners, but here they are:
Winning Teams
Winner: Partech Solutions, Kenya, and their Mare Mare service, a goods-for-goods service
1st runner up: CareFactor, Sweden, and their idea of reducing food waste
As the winning team, Partech Solutions will be awarded with Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc phones and a Connect To Learn scholarship in the team’s name will go to a girl in sub-Saharan Africa, which will provide her with a secondary school education.
The runner up team, CareFactor will be awarded with Sony Ericsson LiveView devices.
Bring Us Your Idea Campaign Winner
Winner: Rachel Silver, Movements.org
Idea: Campaign in a box
"I'm not a developer- but I work with activists and I think a simplified way to help people get the word out about their human rights and pro-democracy campaigns would be something people will value!"
Rachel will have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc coming her way, too.
Remember that even if you didn't win this time around you are still onboard for the main competition and there will be more chances to win!!
Comments from Ericsson:
Elaine Weidman, VP Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility "This first step of the competition has resulted in a wide array of interesting ideas from teams and individuals around the world. It is amazing how many ideas can be brought forward under the umbrella of the networked society. The Networked Society makes it increasingly possible to harness all the creative energy out there, to make technology a force for good in the world. We look forward to receiving more Technology For Good ideas as the competition continues."
Jan Färjh, Head of Ericsson Research "We can see that our work with open innovation, working together with developers from universities and small and medium sized companies really is the way forward. The winning team’s app idea in this competition is one example of Technology for Good."
Congratulations to all the winners!
If you missed out on this one, don't worry! Stage 2 will start Nov 7th, so stay tuned for further information!
