Vasaloppet App Challenge Winners

The jury has been hard at work evaluating the apps we’ve received for the Vasaloppet Challenge. The evaluation criteria were based upon the following criteria:

  • • Innovation (creativity and new possibilities for Vasaloppet)
  • • Potential (broadening interest in the Vasaloppet race, new audience, new business opportunity)
  • • Realizability (how easy it is to realize in real life)

Malin Tviksta

The first place prize goes to:
Malin Tviksta who suggested an application that measures
the heart rate, calories burned, etc. which could be totaled for participants in the Vasaloppet.
This total could then be converted in a monetary value that sponsors could then donate
to a specified charity.

Jan Almkvist

The second prize winner is Jan Almkvist with his idea for an application that helps a skier before, during and after a race with everything from training, competition and the practical details of the Vasaloppet area, between the cities of Sälen and Mora including hotels, restaurants, ski tracks, etc.

Jonas Braam

Third prize goes to Jonas Braam who suggested taking an existing Vasaloppet app and making it hands-free. By incorporating voice recognition and text-to-speech skiers could use the app without having to pick up their phones.
