When you’re hard at work, what’s better than a little inspiration? So we put together some updates and words of encouragement from some of last year’s winners.
Team MedAfrica
Winners of EAA 2012
(company category)
From Team MedAfrica, Winners of EAA 2012 (company category) with their app "MedAfrica" that aims at increasing access to health care among consumers in Africa:
“MedAfrica team is doing well. We are developing version two [of our application] which we will be launching very soon. The number of downloads is increasing by the day and we have gotten more partnerships. So things are looking up for us.”
From Buzzle Technology, 3rd place finalists of EAA 2012 in the company category with their "BuzzleMall" shopping app:
“After the EAA we entered two other competitions where we got a pretty amazing result (1st place and 3rd place). The competition was for IT business planning and creating a Blackberry application. We ported BuzzleMall to Blackberry.
We are still working on BuzzleMall on more platforms and dealing with tenants to gain profits from the app. However the dealing issue is not going really well. We believe this is because Indonesia people are not ready to use these sorts of technologies on their daily lives coupled with slow mobile internet connection. Most people here still have mindset that phones are to be used for calling and messaging.

3rd place finalist of EAA 2012 (company category)
Considering this, we are now working on creating another application which offers these features, a type of Whatsapp or Skype. We are also running a fresh product market, BakoelDesa.com (in Indonesian) to keep our company running and it is doing very well.”
From Clio Squad, Winners of EAA 2012 (student category) with their with their social collaboration app "Clio Super Painter":
“Three of our team members decided to keep studying at our university, and one of us decided to seek further education in Europe.
Some of our professors have given us encouragement and advice to keep optimizing our application. So we have decided to polish our application during this coming year before graduation and we all have the intention of making this the beginning of our career.

After the competition, we posted our application for free on Google Play. Now it has 3300+ downloads in total in the Android Application Market both at home [in China] and abroad.
We were also invited to an interview with a venture capital company and although we realized that both parties had no interest in each other, it was a good opportunity promote Clio and refine our interview skills.
Finally, I can't help myself to say it has been an unparalleled experience and honor to attend the EAA competition. EAA provides an excellent platform for an ordinary person to show his application, his idea, his team work and the most important part, himself. To those who want to participate in this event, I would say work hard and enjoy even harder!”
