A Message to All of this Year's Participants

Now that EAA2012 has come to a close and the excitement and fanfare from the awards ceremony has died down, we would like to take this opportunity to extend a thank you to everyone who participated in the competition. From stage 1 of the main competition, to the Vassaloppet challenges and the local competitions in Africa, we are very honored to have seen such a great deal of interest in EAA from participants from all around the world.

In the company category, first prize was awarded to MedAfrica from Nairobi, Kenya. Their app helps disseminate health care information and services to users in Africa which will help to improve health care in rural areas.

You’re invited to join us as we announce the winners of the 2012 Ericsson Application Awards. The prize ceremony will be broadcast online on Tuesday, May 22nd from 11:00am until 1:00pm CET at Ericsson Studio in Stockholm, Sweden.

After a month of rigorous evaluation by our network of end-users from Africa, China and Europe, we have narrowed the competition to 4 finalist teams.

Submissions: Where are they from?

While we are awaiting the announcement of the finalists, we thought we’d share with you some details about where the submissions came from.

Global Evaluation Has Begun

The semi-finalist apps that we announced last week have been forwarded to our global network of around 600 end-users from Africa, China and Europe. From their feedback, three top teams from each category (company/student) will be determined. We expect to announce those teams on April 25th.

We have been very impressed with the contributions we have received. It’s fantastic to see so many innovative ideas turned into great applications.

Evaluation ongoing

The first phase of the evaluation process is almost done! But with so many new and interesting contributions, the jury have asked for more time to complete the process.
