Thanks for a great interest in our competition!
We have received close to 100 application submissions, which is all time high for the Ericsson Application Awards competition.

We have now gone through the final contributions.

Final submission is now closed

The main competition is now closed for submission. After many hours of hard work, you can now breathe a sigh of relief!

Now the first phase of the evaluation process will begin. In this phase, the jury will select the top 10 semi-finalist which will be announced on March 16th.

Submission of video

We have noticed that some teams have problems to submit the video, this is due to many teams is doing this last minute.
We suggest you upload your film on YouTube instead, but don't forget to send us the link

Global Competition Closing In!

Now that the African competition is behind us, it’s time to get ready for some big time coding! With a deadline of February 28th, our focus now turns to the global competition. New participants and participants from the Africa competition are welcome to join.

We are now in the final phase of the Ericsson Application Awards and that means our requirements just got tougher.

For the main competition, you need to submit:
1) A fully functioning application
2) A video which demonstrates your application (*)
3) A text document that explains some key points about your submission

While our expectations are higher, we haven’t forgotten about what’s in it for you. Not only do you have a chance to win €25,000, this is also an opportunity to gain exposure within the telecom world.

Winners of Apps for African City Life Competition Announced

The winners of the EAA Apps for African City Life Competition is team Shinsekai from Senegal for their Arclean application which aims to support environmental sanitation and and hygiene development in cities.

Second and third prizes will go to two Kenyan teams, Easy Parking for their application aimed at helping motorists locate and pay for available parking areas thus reducing fuel consumption, and Tokelezea for their app which enables individuals locate events and places around them and share the information with their friends.

Ericsson's Sub-Saharan Africa Marketing and Strategy Head Shiletsi Makhofane said "Applications are an integral part of our vision for the Networked Society. Arclean developed an application that addresses global sustainability, and will improve the quality of life on the continent. We applaud them, and share the team’s commitment to connecting people across Africa and beyond to a better life.”

The Apps for African City Life Competition was run as part of the 2013 Ericsson Application Awards, an annual global competition for application developers. Winners were selected based on level of innovation and originality, relevance to the theme and business potential.

All participants in the regional competition are also automatically entered into the global competition where they stand a chance to win 25.000 Euro

African Competition Closed!

The Apps For African City Life is now closed for submission. After many hours of hard work, you can now breathe a sigh of relief!

Now the evaluation process will begin and winners will be announced February 6th.

There is still time to join the Global Competition and a chance to go home with 25 000 Euro.

Team Registration extended

We have seen a big interest to participate in the African competition "Apps For African City Life".
Therefore have we decided to extend the deadline for team registration to January 20th. The deadline to submit the content is still January 25th.
