APPS FOR AFRICAN CITY LIFE!
Do you have a suggestion on how mobile technology can support City Life and drive innovation for the Networked Society in Africa?
The Network Society is an Ericsson vision targeting a combination of mobility, broadband, the cloud, applications and services for an empowered society. Applications are an integral part of this vision, where anything that benefits from being connected will be connected.
Perhaps you have an idea for an application that can help your business grow.
You have until January 20th, 2013 to register your team, and may submit your idea on or before January 25th, 2013.
After the evaluation, winners will be announced on February 6th, 2013.
What’s new?
* Members of the winning teams will each receive top of the range Android tablets
* All application submissions will be automatically entered into the global competition
* We have added more prize money (up to €25,000) to the global competition.
Who can Join the Competition
The competition is open to all students and small & medium sized enterprises (< 100 employees) across sub-Saharan Africa.
There are two categories: one for students and one for companies.

How to Join the Competition
1. Register a user account. (One per team member)
2. Register your team (Click "Team sign-up" and fill out the form). Please note: the team will be available after approval.
3. Submit an application and a demo-video (< 3 min) (Click “Create Project Submission” and fill out the form and upload your app)
Theme
The theme for this year's competition is "Apps For African City Life".
Requirements
* Develop an application based on the Android platform (Web or Native) that addresses the theme.
* Submit an demo video and a working prototype application by January 25th, 2013.
* The application must be an original work.
Prizes
The prize table for the winners in each category (Students and Company)
1st prize: 64GB Android tablet
2nd prize: 32GB Android tablet
3rd prize: 16GB Android tablet
Evaluation
The submitted applications will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
- Android application (Native or Web)
- Addresses the theme "Apps For African City Life"
- Working application prototype
- Innovative approach (Original Work)
- Business potential
Submissions will be evaluated by an Ericsson Jury and winners will be announced Feb 6th , 2013.

January 25, 2013 – Final date for application submission to African competition
February 28, 2013 – Final date for application submission to main competition
